Dear Senator Lugar,
I just read today that you have expressed no interest in the post of Secretary of State in an President Elect Obama cabinet.
Your country needs you in this important role. You are the one figure in this country that can represent our interests abroad with instant credibility from world leaders. There is no one more qualified than you.
I have the utmost respect for your service, your knowledge, and the work you have done on behalf of this country. We need you to consider this important role to help reinstate the reputation as a country that values human rights, cooperation, and peace in this world.
I know we are asking a lot of you. Your wisdom is needed and I think President Elect Obama respects and needs it too.
